There are still a few months until your Xiaomi mobile phone officially receives HyperOS 2.0, but that doesn’t mean all the new features are waiting for that release. You can already try out some of the aesthetic changes and new functions of the upcoming operating system. How? Thanks to the recently updated HyperOS 1.5 launcher.

The launcher is essentially the app that shows the main screens, widgets, and home screen of your Xiaomi mobile. You can change it, and the official version from Xiaomi has just been updated with some impressive new features. In fact, while these updates are linked to HyperOS 1.5, they also include several elements that will appear in HyperOS 2.0.
Fortunately, this launcher is now official and available for everyone. You can install it on almost any Xiaomi mobile. Plus, your device doesn’t even need to be compatible with the upcoming HyperOS 2.0, as this new launcher is simply an app that changes the look of your phone.
Install this app and start testing HyperOS 2.0!
As mentioned, Xiaomi has officially updated the HyperOS launcher, adding the most new features since the system launched about a year ago. Testing it is very easy. While you won’t be able to change the entire software on your phone just yet, you can already see several details of HyperOS 2.0 on your device.
Installing the HyperOS 2.0 launcher is easy. Just follow these steps:
- Click this link and download the APK.
- Install it on your Xiaomi like any other app. If needed, allow your phone to install apps from unknown sources.
- Once installed, restart your device and explore the new features in the launcher.
Keep in mind that the launcher only changes the appearance and functions of the main home screen. It does not add new settings, make system-level changes, or modify notifications—just the basics.
With this in mind, there are several features of HyperOS 2.0 related to the desktop that you can already try. How is this possible if the system hasn’t been released yet? Xiaomi is testing key aspects of the update to ensure everything works smoothly.
Here are some new features:
- New Menu Settings: Desktop-related settings now appear in a bottom menu, grouping everything you need to modify for this part of the system.
- HyperOS 2.0 Interactive Grid: When you try to place an app on the Home screen, an interactive grid will show you where there is free space to place it.
- New Effects: A new effect will appear when you try to place one app on top of another on the desktop.
- New Animation: One of the major updates is the new animation that appears when unlocking the device. Now, widgets will load before apps, creating a fresh unlocking experience.
As you can see, it’s not an endless list of changes, but it’s a great option for anyone who wants to start testing some of the features that Xiaomi will offer with HyperOS 2.0.
