If you want to try out Apple Intelligence on your devices, we have good news! Apple has just released the first public beta of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1, giving access to some features powered by its new artificial intelligence suite.

Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

This release comes almost two months after Apple introduced these updates exclusively for developers. However, don’t expect anything too impressive in terms of AI. The features based on Apple Intelligence in this first beta of iOS/iPadOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1 are still quite limited.

If you install these development builds on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you’ll gain access to writing tools that allow you to correct, rewrite, or summarize text in apps like Pages, Mail, and Notes. You’ll also get quick replies in Messages and Mail, an improved and redesigned Siri (without ChatGPT integration), website summaries in Safari, notification priority filtering, and some editing options in the Photos app.

However, more advanced Apple Intelligence features, such as Image Playground and Genmoji, are not included in the first public beta of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1. These features are also not expected to be available when the stable updates are released in October. If there are no delays, they could be ready as early as December.

Just like when the beta was first released to developers, those who want to try out Apple Intelligence on iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 will need to join a waiting list. To do this, they must go to the settings on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac, then select “Apple Intelligence & Siri.” There, they can request access and wait for Apple to approve it.

In the developer version of the first beta, users reported being enabled to use Apple Intelligence within just a few minutes. However, it may not be as quick this time, as the number of people trying to log in is likely to be much higher.

Currently, the list of devices compatible with beta 1 of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 is quite limited. The available devices include the iPhone 15 Pro, iPads with M1, M2, and M4 chips, and Macs with M1 chips or higher. Tomorrow, when deliveries begin, the four iPhone 16 models will also be added.

If you want to install these beta versions, you need to register for the Apple Beta Software Program and follow the necessary steps. Once you complete this requirement, you can proceed with the installation on supported devices.

If you are in European countries, please note that Apple Intelligence is not available on iOS 18.1 or iPadOS 18.1. However, these features can be accessed through macOS 15.1, as it is not affected by the Digital Markets Act.
