Apple is finalizing details for its special event on Monday, where it will announce the long-awaited iPhone 16 and other products. One of the devices that could debut at the event is the Apple Watch Series 10, the next generation of the smartwatch, which is expected to come with a range of improvements. While this model has not been confirmed yet, Apple has hinted that the new Apple Watch is on its way.

A report from MacRumors suggests that Apple has reduced the inventory of the Apple Watch Series 9 at its stores. This is a common practice for the tech company before announcing a new generation of devices. Some configurations of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch SE are already sold out and marked as unavailable for purchase online.

Apple Watch updates are a regular feature of iPhone launches. The current model was introduced alongside the iPhone 15 and came with the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Unfortunately, the SE model was not included in the event, leaving users eager for an update to the more affordable version of the smartwatch.

So, what do we know about the Apple Watch Series 10?

According to leaks, the Apple Watch Series 10 will feature a slimmer body with thin front bezels. Mark Gurman has reported that this year’s model will include a variant with a 49 mm case, a feature previously exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra. This version will have a 2-inch screen, which is slightly larger than the Ultra’s, though the design itself is expected to remain unchanged.

Bloomberg’s journalist has indicated that the Apple Watch Series 10 will not include improvements in health features. The Cupertino company is facing issues with its sensors and is also dealing with a patent lawsuit from Masimo, which prevents the use of the blood oxygen meter. However, sources told 9to5Mac that engineers have updated the heart rate sensor to introduce new functions.

Another improved feature of the Apple Watch Series 10 is its water resistance. Rumors suggest that the new watch will inherit a special feature from the Apple Watch Ultra, allowing it to be used during diving activities. This is made possible by the Depth app, which automatically detects when you are diving and enables you to start a swimming session.

Regarding the new Apple Watch SE 3, reports indicate that it will come with a hard plastic case. While this might disappoint SE owners hoping for a more premium upgrade, the change in material is aimed at reducing the cost of the watch. It is also rumored to feature a next-generation S10 processor, which should provide improved performance.

The Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch SE 3 might be announced during the iPhone 16 presentation. The special event is scheduled for September 9, 2024. At Thetechbasic, we will provide all the details on these and other products announced during the event.
