The latest leaked information about Samsung and the upcoming Galaxy S25 is very promising for users worldwide. Samsung might revisit the strategy it used with the Galaxy S23, which it did not continue with the Galaxy S24 earlier this year. User complaints, which have been ongoing for years, might have pushed the company to make a final decision on this issue.

  • The Galaxy S25 is expected to use only Qualcomm processors once again.
  • A Long-Awaited Change with a Problematic Consequence

This situation has a long history, showing Samsung as inconsistent when it comes to making long-term decisions. Specifically, it concerns the choice of processors and their suppliers. With the Galaxy S23 series, there was renewed hope that Qualcomm would be the sole chip supplier. However, this optimism faded with the release of the latest generation.

To everyone’s surprise, the Galaxy S24 once again used Exynos processors in several markets. Exynos was used in the two less advanced models, while the Ultra model did use Qualcomm. This choice clearly indicated that Samsung relies on Qualcomm for the best performance in its most advanced phones. With the Galaxy S25, things could change once more.

The Galaxy S25 is expected to use only Qualcomm processors once again.

According to SamMobile, Samsung plans to return to the strategy it used with the Galaxy S23, meaning all Galaxy S25 models will feature a Qualcomm processor, no matter the model or the country where it’s sold. This processor will likely be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

This decision is not official yet, but it is thought to be driven by concerns about the AI performance of the Exynos 2500. This new processor, made by Samsung, is anticipated to lack the performance needed to support the advanced artificial intelligence features Samsung wants to include in the next generation of phones.

Recent leaks suggest that Samsung might aim for up to 30% better AI performance than the current generation, which could be the reason for choosing a single processor supplier globally for all models.

A Long-Awaited Change with a Problematic Consequence

This decision, however, comes with a significant drawback. The increased performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could result from the switch to an Oryon CPU, which is expected to be quite expensive.

According to leaks, the unit price of Qualcomm’s new processor might rise by 20-25%, potentially leading to a higher final price for all Galaxy S25 models. This price increase could be up to 60 euros per unit.

Unless Samsung absorbs this cost and lowers its profit margin—an unlikely scenario—the Galaxy S25 could see a price increase compared to the Galaxy S24. Considering the starting prices of the current generation and adding the anticipated 60 euros due to Qualcomm, the cost of the Galaxy S25 could rise significantly.

  • Samsung Galaxy S25: 969 euros
  • Samsung Galaxy S25+: 1,219 euros
  • Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: 1,639 euros

When will the Samsung Galaxy S25 be released? It is likely that Samsung will follow its usual pattern and wait until one calendar year has passed since the release of the previous generation. This suggests that the next Unpacked event will probably take place around January 15, 2025.
