Bethesda wants to assure Starfield players that more content is on the way as they wait for Shattered Space. Despite a rocky start, Starfield has built a loyal player base, thanks to several big updates this past year. Many of these updates improved gameplay, but Bethesda now plans to introduce even bigger patches with Shattered Space.

At Gamescom 2024, Timothy Lamb, Bethesda’s Lead Creative Producer, shared some exciting news. He promised that Starfield will get more content, and unlike Shattered Space, it will be free for all. Lamb is thrilled about new ideas from the community that are now in production, although he couldn’t reveal specifics. He also confirmed that along with big updates, smaller free improvements are planned for every player.
What’s Next For Starfield?
Bethesda hasn’t released many big updates for Starfield, but it consistently delivers a patch every six weeks. The latest update added the Rev-8, a land buggy that makes exploring planets more fun. The biggest addition will be Shattered Space, a paid DLC that explores deeper into House Va’ruun and its mysterious Great Serpent.
Shattered Space promises a much scarier experience than expected. Inspired by games like Alien and Dead Space, the DLC will explore the fear of the unknown and expand on a faction with dark secrets from the base game. The exact amount of content in Shattered Space is still unclear, but the anticipation is high.
Starfield fans won’t have to wait long to play Shattered Space, which is set to release on September 30, just over a year after the game’s 2023 launch. Bethesda has also confirmed another paid expansion is in the works, but details are limited at this time.
