The new space rover for Starfield, teased in developer previews, is now available. It arrives today in a free update for Xbox and Windows PC. The announcement was made during the Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live show, where a special trailer showcased the rover and its features.

The trailer reveals the rover’s official name, the REV-8. It highlights its rugged design, high speed, and rocket boost ability, which helps players reach inaccessible areas. The rover also comes equipped with a gauss cannon, allowing players to defend against alien threats and space bandits.
Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC
At the end of the trailer, Bethesda also announced the release date for Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC. This expansion will be released on September 30, 2024, for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store. However, unlike the base game, the DLC won’t be available on Xbox Game Pass and must be purchased separately unless you own the Premium Edition.
Shattered Space will focus on a deeper adventure on the planet Va’ruun’kai, shifting away from Starfield’s broader world exploration. The expansion will explore the mysterious House Va’ruun and introduce new planets, enemies, bosses, weapons, and armor.
The release of Shattered Space is exciting, especially for players seeking more depth in the Starfield universe. The DLC promises to provide a richer experience and offers players a chance to use the new REV-8 rover in a new setting.
Starfield’s Free REV-8 Rover Now Available
The addition of the REV-8 rover is a welcome update for Starfield. Players have requested a space rover since the game’s launch in 2023 due to the vast open-world environment. Bethesda hinted that the rover might be customizable like the space ships, though this will be confirmed once the update is live. To get the rover, players need to visit a ship services technician in any major city within the game.
The REV-8 rover DLC is free and available today on Xbox and Windows PC. The Shattered Space DLC will launch next month on September 30, 2024. While its price hasn’t been revealed, those who own the Premium Edition or the Premium Edition Upgrade will have access to it.
