In a surprising move, Huawei silently introduced its latest tablet, the MatePro, featuring a 13.2-inch display and powered by the enigmatic Kirin 9000W processor. While last year saw the debut of the HiSilicon Kirin 9000S chipset, an octa-core clocked at up to 2.62 GHz, built on a 7-nanometer lithography, and developed by SMIC, the Chinese manufacturer has been keeping us on our toes with unexpected SoC releases.

New Kirin 9000W SoC: Unraveling the Mystery

The Kirin 9006C, unveiled post the Kirin 9000S announcement, hinted at a simpler architecture targeting intermediate performance. Now, Huawei discreetly launches the Kirin 9000W, boasting superior performance that seems almost overkill. This cutting-edge component powers the MatePro tablet, delivering a flagship experience to users in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia.

While Huawei remains tight-lipped about specific details of the processor, the MatePro’s hefty price tag, exceeding R$4,900 in direct conversion, suggests advanced technologies compared to the Kirin 9000S found in MatePad Pro versions from other countries

Spotting the Differences: Kirin 9000W vs. Kirin 9000S Tablets

The primary distinction between the Kirin 9000W-based tablets from Huawei and their Kirin 9000S counterparts lies in connectivity. The former lacks 4G/LTE connectivity, while the latter misses cellular features. This leads to speculation that the Kirin 9000W application processor might come with a disabled built-in modem.

Unfortunately, Huawei has yet to provide in-depth specifications for this mysterious component, leaving tech enthusiasts in anticipation. More details are expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks, shedding light on the capabilities and innovations packed into the Kirin 9000W.

Unanswered Questions: Kirin 9000S in Some 13.2-inch MatePad Pro Versions

Curiously, the introduction of the Kirin 9000W doesn’t clarify why certain variants of the 13.2-inch Huawei MatePad Pro still rely on the Kirin 9000S produced by SMIC. As we await further information, Huawei continues to captivate its global audience with unexpected releases and a cloud of intrigue surrounding its latest processor technology. Stay tuned for updates as more details emerge in the weeks to come.
