Hideki Kamiya, the Vice President and co-founder of Platinum Games, announced this week that he will be leaving the studio in October. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his gratitude to the fans for their support. Kamiya also reassured fans that he will not let them down, as he intends to continue creating games wherever he goes.
“I thought I would face more criticism due to my usual behaviour, but I am deeply moved by all the words of support I have received,” wrote Kamiya. “Thank you very much.”
“I am not at all worried about my future. As long as I have your support, I will keep making games and give my best not to disappoint you.”
“When I decided to resign, many of my former and young colleagues and employees were sad to see me go, and some even cried for someone like me. I realized once again that I was only able to be who I am because of the support of the people around me. I will continue to be grateful for the help of others.”

Hideki Kamiya Reflecting on Creative Spirit and Future Endeavors
Offering a potential hint at the reason for his departure, Kamiya also stated: “I will continue to believe in the spirit of creativity that I have always believed in throughout my career at Capcom, Clover Studio, and Platinum, no matter what they say. I don’t know if I will be able to continue making games that live up to that belief. I don’t have a formula for success, but I am committed to striving for it.”
