Lenovo Yoga Book 9i Review – First Dual OLED Screen PC

Lenovo often experiments with various concepts. While the X1 Fold, the first folding screen computer, was innovative, it didn’t captivate the audience. In 2023, Lenovo introduced the bold Lenovo Yoga Book 9i, featuring dual 13.3-inch OLED screens. While this may seem like a novelty, practical applications emerge. However, this modernity comes at a price, starting at $1899 for 512 GB storage and $1999 for 1 TB.

Construction and Design

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i boasts excellent finishes compared to the X1 Fold. The anodized blue aluminum chassis, along with slim bezels, achieves an impressive 87% screen-to-body ratio. Both screens are responsive, enabling various uses, from tablet to tent mode. Lenovo provides a compact wireless keyboard that can be magnetically attached for convenience. The remaining screen displays widgets like Outlook and default news. While the keyboard lacks backlighting, the virtual keyboard serves as a backup.

Yoga Book 9i Functionality and Accessories

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i comes with a stylus and a unique foldable cover that doubles as a stand. This innovative design allows for vertical dual-screen usage, enhancing productivity and ergonomics. However, there are minor optimization issues with Windows for dual screens. Despite this, the overall experience remains pleasant.

Connectivity and Webcam

Due to its slimness, the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i offers three USB-C Thunderbolt ports, lacking a mini-jack. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 ensures cutting-edge connectivity. The 5 MP webcam, however, disappoints with its low-quality output. It does support Windows Hello for facial recognition.

Yoga Book 9i Performance and Cooling

Equipped with an Intel Core i7-1355U processor, the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i delivers adequate performance for daily tasks but lags behind in more demanding applications. The SSD provides swift read and write speeds, ideal for office work.

The presence of a fan ensures efficient cooling without excessive noise. Temperature management remains commendable, thanks to careful processor throttling.

Display Quality

The two 13.3-inch OLED screens offer a high-resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels but exhibit minor color accuracy issues. The brightness level is satisfactory, though slightly limited for outdoor use due to high reflectance.

The integrated speakers offer balanced audio output, surpassing typical laptop standards. The voices are clear, making it suitable for occasional music playback.

Mobility and Battery Life

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i’s compact size and weight make it highly portable. Including the keyboard and cover adds some heft, but it remains manageable. The charger is lightweight and convenient.
