Apple has introduced the all-new Apple iMac (2023) with the M3 Chip for amazing performance. At the Apple Event early Tuesday morning in Spain (Monday afternoon in Cupertino), Apple introduced new processors, the Apple Silicon M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max, as well as new computers, the updated 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, and the refreshed iMac. Here are the highlights of this latest equipment.

New iMac Makes an (Expected) Leap in Performance

After much anticipation, Apple’s colorful 24-inch computer finally gets an upgrade. The changes are not on the outside but entirely inside. As expected, it adopts the new Apple Silicon M3 processor, which, although it is the least ambitious version, promises great performance.

As we mentioned earlier in this event, the possibility of seeing an iMac Pro, that is, a proposal with this form factor aimed at much more demanding users, has been completely ruled out. In any case, the M3 iMac presented this morning promises to be up to twice as fast as the previous one.

When buying the computer, we can choose between an M3 Chip with 8 CPU cores and 8 GPU cores, or one with 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores. As for unified memory, the base is 8 GB, but we can also upgrade it at the time of purchase (not later) to 16 or 24 GB.

The biggest change, however, will be noticed by those who switch from the old iMacs with Intel processors to these new generation ARM architecture ones. Beyond this, it’s worth noting that the computer retains the excellent 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, ideal for consuming content and performing all kinds of tasks.

This means we still have a resolution of 4,480 x 2,520 pixels (218 ppi) – 11 million pixels, 500 nits of brightness, high color gamut, and True Tone. There are no changes regarding the integrated camera. It remains HD with a resolution of 1080p, and we also don’t have Face ID, a technology that was discarded some time ago.

In the absence of Face ID, we have to use the Touch ID keyboard to log in, view certain confidential information, and make payments. In terms of audio, Cupertino sticks with the same setup: six speakers with force-canceling in the woofers, Spatial Audio, and “studio-quality microphones” compatible with “Hey Siri”.

What sets this computer apart from any other All-In-One is its operating system. The device will be powered by macOS Sonoma, which means we can make the most of all the innovations coming from iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and the entire Cupertino company ecosystem.

Price and Availability of the New 24-inch iMac M3

The new 24-inch iMac M3 can now be pre-ordered online in the App Store, as well as in physical stores in Spain. Shipments will begin on Tuesday, November 7th.

iMac M3 with 8-core GPU, 8 GB of unified memory, and 256 GB of SSD storage: starting from $1,719.

iMac M3 with 10-core GPU, 8 GB of unified memory, and 256 GB of SSD storage: starting from $1,960.
