In 2001, with Stronghold, developer Firefly Studios delivered an absolute flagship game in the real-time strategy genre. 22 years later, the RTS pioneer receives a remake that stays as faithful as possible to its great predecessor – as a reward, Stronghold: Definitive Edition can rejoice in enthusiastic ratings and the top spot on the best-seller list on Steam.
Stronghold: Definitive Edition – Classic Strategy Celebrates Steam Comeback
In Stronghold, you are tasked with uniting the fractured England of the Middle Ages to stand united against the enemies of the kingdom. You can expect classic RTS gameplay, where you command the forces, build cities, and boost the economy. The Definitive Edition comes with improved animations, textures, and lighting, which clearly adhere to the original look.
The soundtrack, as well as the voices, have been re-recorded by the original actors. Stronghold: Definitive Edition manages to impress the Steam community right from the release, as after the first 700 reviews, the game settles at a ‘Very Positive’ rating.
