The upcoming Surface Go initially aimed for an ARM processor, recent rumors suggest Microsoft scrapped this idea. Instead, the slim Windows tablet (Microsoft Go 4) uses a quicker Intel processor and a more repair-friendly design.

This fall, Microsoft plans a variety of new Surface products, such as Surface Laptop Go 3 and Surface Laptop Studio 2. Windows Central recently obtained details regarding the upcoming Surface Go 3 successor (around $500 on Amazon). Consequently, the tablet won’t be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c-series ARM chip, as previous rumors suggested.

What All to know? Microsoft Go 4 With Faster Intel Processor

In place of the Intel Core i3-10100Y, the Intel Processor N200 takes over, a chip nearly five years newer. Additionally, it boasts four computing cores, a significant improvement over the former two cores. Despite a slight TDP increase from 5 to 6 watts, the chip operates more efficiently thanks to its advanced 10 nm production and Gracemont architecture. Microsoft aims to enhance the internal design, potentially facilitating easier repairs for the Surface Go 4. It remains uncertain whether RAM or SSD upgrades will be possible.

In addition, the design and features of the prior model are anticipated to be retained by Microsoft. The Surface Go 4 is likely to feature a 10.5-inch touchscreen in a 3:2 aspect ratio, boasting a resolution of 1,920 x 1,280 pixels. It is expected to offer a RAM range of 4GB to 8GB, along with a 64GB to 128GB SSD. Moreover, the device will include a single USB-C port, alongside the proprietary Surface Connect port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card reader.
