Reveling in Uniqueness

While the previous model caught attention with its ingenious Glyph UI, Nothing Phone 2 continues this trend by once again making headlines. To delve into our assessment of the first model’s Glyph UI, refer to our Nothing Phone 1 review. With the second generation, this concept is taken a step further, introducing a customizable Glyph ringtone and a light display feature.

Beneath the attention-grabbing UI lies a robust smartphone powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, coupled with ample RAM to handle most tasks seamlessly. In terms of performance and features, Nothing Phone 2 stands in direct comparison with the likes of Apple iPhone 14 and Google Pixel 7, yet comes at a significantly lower cost. Finally, consumers need not worry about compromise due to the lower price point; Nothing Phone 2 exudes sophistication and can establish its own unique identity beyond the dominating presence of Apple and Samsung.

The Glyph UI is a key highlight, just like in the Nothing Phone 1. This special way the phone works makes it easier and less worrying to use. Beneath the eye-catching UI, the Nothing Phone 2 is a powerhouse. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, backed by ample RAM for most tasks.

Nothing Phone 2 A Deeper Look

Let’s take a closer look at the Nothing Phone 2. We’ll check out its main specs, design elements, and I’ll share how it’s been for me after using it every day for six weeks.

Despite being classified as a budget smartphone, the Nothing Phone 2 is anything but skimpy in technology. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, a robust chipset.

The display of 6.7-inch LTPO OLED is one of the best in its league, offering sharp and vibrant visuals. Due to its adaptive refresh rate technology, Nothing Phone 2 efficiently saves battery life. However, prolonged usage reveals a minor issue, as explained in the Daily Performance section.

With 8GB and 12GB RAM options, the Nothing Phone 2 suits various needs. For daily tasks, 8GB suffices, while 12GB is optimal for demanding activities.

Slightly slimmer and taller than its predecessor, the Nothing Phone 2 is lightweight and easily portable. Its button layout is reminiscent of the iPhone’s, with dual functionalities based on pressure intensity.

The Glyph LED system’s rear design is interesting and appreciated. Placing the phone face-down changes how we interact with it, aligning with the brand’s unique philosophy.

The standout feature of the Nothing Phone 2 is the Glyph system.

The monochrome UI of the Nothing Phone 2 aims to reduce screen time stress. Icons and apps are stripped of color, promoting a focus on essential tasks. The UI can be customized extensively, tailoring it to individual preferences. Testing the Nothing Phone 2 over six weeks revealed its adaptability. The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset performs exceptionally well.

The battery life is commendable, lasting around three days for normal use. Intensive activities like gaming and streaming reduce this, but it remains impressive. Fast charging is an added benefit as it will save time for charging.

Nothing Phone 2 Pricing

The pricing of the Nothing Phone 2 is reasonable. The model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage costs $599 or £579. The one with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at $699 or £629. And if you want the 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage version, it’s $799 or £699. As you can see, even the most expensive version of the Nothing Phone 2 is much cheaper than similar models like the iPhone 14. With its good value for money and clever design, I recommend the Nothing Phone 2 – just remember to get a case for it too.

It is expected that Nothing will be launching cheaper Earbuds Smart Watches under the umbrella of CMF by Nothing.
