New update released for Windows 11 Dev removes beloved feature for users

Microsoft released this week a new update for Windows 11 Build 23541 for Insiders in the Dev Channel, fixing the main issues reported by users of the experimental version. The update’s changelog confirms the implementation of improvements to the operating system, fixing bugs in the taskbar, Start menu, and other important areas.

In addition to these specific improvements, the developer also removed the advanced thumbnail preview for cloud files in the ‘Recommended’ section of the Start menu. It appears that this is a temporary change that can be reverted by the company in future updates that will be released to Insider program subscribers.

The suspension of features is common in experimental versions of Windows, but the company usually tends to reintroduce them in later versions.

Check out the fixes in Windows 11 Build 23541:

Taskbar

• Fixed an issue where dragging app icons on the taskbar could sometimes lead to an explorer.exe crash.

Taskbar Search

• Fixed an issue where, sometimes, the tooltip when passing over the search screen did not match the current search highlight.

Development Drive

• Fixed an issue where it was not possible to paste a folder path to mount in the dialog when creating a new development drive.”
