Few days after receiving an immersive trailer, Ubisoft’s new venture for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, focusing on virtual reality, has unveiled a new Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR video, this time showcasing details of the gameplay over eight minutes.
In the video, David Votypka, the creative director of the production, emphasizes that this will be the first first-person Assassin’s Creed, in addition to various game mechanics that mirror the usual abilities of the assassins in the saga, such as the skills to parkour across city rooftops, take leaps of faith, and eliminate enemies with hidden blades, among others.
In total, it will be possible to control three assassins already known from the series: Ezio—from AC 2 to Revelations—, Connor—from AC 3—, and Kassandra—from AC: Odyssey—, each in their respective historical settings, namely 15th-century Italy, 18th-century colonial America, and 5th-century BC Greece.
The video showcases gameplay on the Meta Quest platform, displaying an adventure that will demand precision, along with providing an adrenaline rush due to its speed and the characters’ maneuvers. The game features a new story about a hacker whose goal is to bring down Abstergo. By leaping through memories, you will master the tools and abilities of each member of the Creed.
The game will be released for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro on November 16.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR Gets Immersive Gameplay Trailer
In June of this year, Ubisoft shared new details about Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, their latest project based on the iconic assassins franchise, promising even more immersion and realism for players.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is described as a full-fledged game and not just a few hours’ experience for virtual reality enthusiasts, leading Ubisoft to present a new gameplay trailer and reveal more updates about the project.
Scheduled for November 16 on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro devices, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR will allow players to experience a complete Assassin’s Creed adventure from a new perspective, through virtual reality.
The game spans three different eras, with three different assassins, each living their own adventures without realizing they have a connection between them.
Kassandra from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Ezio Auditore from Assassin’s Creed 2, and Connor Kenway from Assassin’s Creed 3 are the three characters you’ll be able to control, through a Brotherhood hacker who infiltrated Abstergo to obtain information.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR was built with inspiration from the franchise’s roots and will focus on a stealthier approach.
Assassin’s Creed VR Gets a New Name and Will Be Released in 2023
Although Ubisoft canceled the VR version of Splinter Cell in 2022, plans for Assassin’s Creed VR are more alive than ever, now with a new name: Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR.
The game’s development was confirmed by Nexus’s creative director, David Votypka, during the conclusion of a Quest Games Showcase where other titles like Stranger Things VR, Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice VR, and Attack on Titan VR were also announced.
Votypka states that the game will be released for the Oculus Quest 2, and more details about it will be revealed during the Ubisoft Forward event on June 12.
However, a report from the Exputer portal says that the game will have various gameplay options such as first-person view, classic stealth mechanics seen in other titles of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, melee combat, hidden blades, climbing, and much more.
The portal also mentions that the game will have 16 missions that can be completed with well-known characters like Ezio, Connor, Haytham, and Kassandra, who are already present in other games. It will also be possible to teleport through the open world and through past adventures of the Animus.
It is still unknown whether Ubisoft will release a version of the game for PS VR2 and PC VR, but Insider Gaming asserts that the company is optimistic about the success of the title and is already considering developing a sequel like Nexus 2.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is set to be released in September of this year; more details will be revealed in just over a week, during Ubisoft Forward 2023.
