Documents leaked by the FTC in the United States suggest that the next generation of Xbox controllers will feature haptic feedback, an accelerometer, speakers, and a rechargeable battery that can be easily replaced.

The new controller was revealed alongside other internal Microsoft information due to an apparent error. The documentation also outlines Microsoft’s plans until 2030, including references to new consoles.

The leaked documents include information about a mid-generation console overhaul, stating that they will come with a completely revamped and more immersive new controller.

The controller has the codename ‘Sebile,’ as detailed in the document, highlighting all of its features. Check out the image below:

The primary highlight is precise haptic feedback using VCA, which will also function as speakers, along with an accelerometer that is expected to introduce new functionalities when the user lifts the joystick.

Other features include modular thumbsticks, a removable rechargeable battery, and quieter buttons. The documents also mention that the controllers will still have special editions and limited colours, participating in the Xbox Design Lab service, allowing players to customize their controllers.

In terms of appearance, the controller closely resembles current Xbox joysticks, but the bottom appears to use a different material to improve grip. The new controller will accompany the ‘Brooklin’ and ‘Ellewood’ updates planned for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, respectively.

Previously, Xbox division head Phil Spencer stated that an upgrade for the Series X was not a priority for Microsoft, something he reiterated in an interview last month. Since ‘Brooklin’ seems to have the same specifications as the standard version, the changes may be primarily in the design
