In a historic turn of events, the tweet by Rockstar Games unveiling the release date for the first trailer of GTA 6 has now become the most liked gaming-related post in the history of the X platform (formerly Twitter).

The announcement confirming the release date for the first trailer of Grand Theft Auto 6 on December 5 garnered a staggering 1.8 million likes within a mere 24 hours.

Interestingly enough, the previous record for the most liked gaming tweet was also held by Rockstar Games. In November 2023, the company teased the release of the first trailer for the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, slated for December.

Back in February of last year, Rockstar had hinted at the smooth progress of the upcoming chapter in the Grand Theft Auto series but had remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the game.

However, come September 2022, one of the gaming industry’s most monumental leaks surfaced, offering gamers a glimpse into the development of GTA 6, showcasing images and videos from one of the best-selling game series of all time.

These leaks showcased alpha gameplay footage of GTA 6’s open-world environment, validating rumors of the game being set in Vice City and featuring a female protagonist.

Amidst this uproar, Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, foresaw a surge in the value of its stocks during the upcoming fiscal year, propelled by the release of major titles. This indicates a potential launch of GTA 6 within the next 12 months, by March 31, 2025.

In a light-hearted twist, as details of the game leaked in 2022, one particularly enterprising player allegedly tried to impress their date by claiming insider knowledge of GTA 6, only to realize they were unintentionally sharing the leaked information.
