Announced alongside Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2, Google also introduced new colors for Pixel Buds Pro. The company recently released an update featuring a nifty conversation detection feature and further enhancements, including one related to Chromebook. Surprisingly, Google announced that a new Pixel Buds web app would be available for Chromebooks. We weren’t sure when this would be rolled out, but thanks to Chrome Unboxed’s ingenuity, you can download it now.

Technically, two ways exist to access and use the new Pixel Buds PWA on your Chromebook. The first is by installing the Pixel Buds app from the Play Store. However, Chrome Unboxed found that the app wouldn’t open after installation but provided a URL in the top section of the web app.

This provides another method to install the new Pixel Buds PWA, as you can simply navigate to mypixelbuds.google.com. From there, click the button in the toolbar to install it as a web app, follow the on-screen steps to connect the app to your Pixel Buds, and you’re good to go.

Once everything is set up, the Pixel Buds PWA offers nearly all the same controls as if you were using the app on your Android phone. This includes features like enabling ANC or activating the new conversation detection if you have the Pixel Buds Pro.

Google also includes the ability to choose from equalizer presets or adjust different levels to your preference. Additionally, you can click the Settings button and check for any firmware updates waiting to be installed. We haven’t been able to test this yet, but we hope it works as advertised and that we won’t need to use our phone to install an update for our Pixel Buds.

If you have a set of Pixel Buds and have been hoping for better controls for your headphones on a Chromebook, you’re in luck. Try downloading the app yourself, connect your Pixel Buds, and enjoy the enhanced experience.
