Xbox: Choose What You Want to Install
The demand for large and visually impressive games is constantly growing, which leads to ever larger download sizes. Today, many games require at least 100 GB of hard drive space, which poses a particular challenge for console gamers. However, Microsoft is working on a solution to this problem.
The company wants to offer Xbox users the option to select which parts of a game they want to download before installing it, in order to save storage space and reduce download time. Games that support this new option will initially appear as a smaller download. Users will then be able to decide whether they want to download additional content such as multiplayer features or HD textures. This flexible installation is particularly beneficial for the digital Xbox Series S, which has only a small internal memory.
The new feature is currently being tested through the Xbox Insider Program, which gives select users early access to new games and features. It is not yet known when the project will be available to the public.
