Samsung unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag 2 on Wednesday, its intelligent locator device with a new design, set to launch on October 11th at a price of $30(Expected). One of the new features of the device is the Lost Mode, which allows users to input contact information via a message. If someone finds an item with the device attached, they can use their smartphone to scan the tag, enabling them to view the message and contact details.
Enhanced Compass View Function
There’s also an enhanced Compass View function that improves the experience by providing arrows to locate the direction and distance of the SmartTag 2’s location. This mode is available on any UWB-compatible Galaxy smartphone.

Improved Energy-Saving Mode
Another advancement in this new model is the energy-saving mode, which also comes with an enhanced version. With energy-saving mode, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 can last up to 700 days — double the duration of the previous model. In the normal mode, there’s also an improvement, with the battery now extending up to 500 days, a 50% increase. By being able to switch between the two modes, users can track their items for even longer.
Galaxy SmartTag 2 Maintaining Popular Features
The SmartTag 2 retains several of the popular features from the Galaxy SmartTag and Galaxy SmartTag Plus, such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and UWB. The device operates within a maximum Bluetooth range of 120 meters and can control smart appliances through the SmartThings app.

New Compact Ring Design – Galaxy SmartTag 2
The Galaxy SmartTag 2 is a tracking device with a new compact ring-shaped design, engineered for ease of use. It features a large loop that enhances its durability due to the use of metal in its interior, allowing for the attachment of accessories like clips and keychains.
Privacy and Security Features
To ensure user privacy, SmartThings Find encrypts user data and is compatible with the additional security provided by Samsung Knox. Furthermore, when Lost Mode is deactivated, the owner’s contact information is immediately hidden, and any messages left by the owner on the device are deleted.
Galaxy SmartTag 2 Water and Dust Resistance
In terms of durability, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 has an IP67 rating, making it water and dust-resistant. For pet lovers, it also supports a new pet walking mode, making it easier to log walks with furry friends.
