A resident of California claimed that Starfield was responsible for saving his family’s life after a fire broke out in the apartment complex where they lived while he was playing the game.
A reputable site user “tidyckilla” described the situation, explaining how spending the entire night playing Starfield on August 31 allowed him to stay awake and alert to quickly deal with the fire, which, according to local news, claimed one person’s life.
“I’ve been waiting for this game since the trademark rumours in 2015-2016 (I don’t remember exactly when),” said Tidyckilla. “With anticipation, I pre-ordered the premium edition, expecting to play this game. On the night of August 31, I decided to stay awake and play as much as possible to experience this new universe. At 2:26 in the morning, while playing, I heard an explosion in my downstairs neighbour’s apartment.”
“I paused my game to see what was happening. When I opened the door, I saw flames rising up the stairs to our apartment. I immediately grabbed my wife and my cat, quickly going to a safe location with only minor burns. If I hadn’t been marathon-playing Starfield, I would have been sleeping, and we would all have died from smoke inhalation. I want to thank this game for saving me and my family from a terrible fate.”
Tidyckilla posted several photos of the incident, which occurred in the city of Chico, Northern California. According to the media channel, one person died in the fire, which took place at the Sheridan Manor apartment complex, with three people trapped in a second-floor room being rescued with a ladder. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
“A wall of fire was climbing up the stairs, as can be seen in the photo,” tidyckilla said in a website post, “I couldn’t see or breathe the whole time, I just had to follow instinct to get out. The alarm didn’t go off until my wife opened the door to run.”
In another post, he mentioned that he plans to move with his wife to Nevada after the incident.”
