WhatsApp has just unexpectedly launched its new Lists feature. The company has briefly explained what they are and indicated that they replace the filters that were introduced earlier for organizing chats and conversations. The concept is simple and involves a minor update, but it is very useful for organizing all your conversations precisely.

These new lists are available at the top of the main interface, where all chats and groups are located. To give you an idea of what WhatsApp has implemented, a list works the same way as a filter, so options like ‘All’, ‘Unread’, ‘Favorites’, and ‘Groups’ are now considered lists.
The idea is very simple: when you click on one of these options, the chat feed will only show the conversations that match that selection. Now, this feature has expanded to allow you to create your own lists. By clicking on the +, you can choose a name, and a new filter will appear at the top. You can add any individual or group conversation to your custom list.
A Much More Organized WhatsApp
With this feature, you can create lists for work, college, old classmates, or any other groups you can think of. When you select a specific list, all the chats you’ve added will appear, making your WhatsApp app much more organized.
It’s a great way to categorize chats and conversations, bringing all the contacts on a specific topic into one list. Of course, the ‘All’ list will remain the same as always. Since you can create as many lists as you want, you won’t have to rely solely on the favorites tab for your main conversations anymore.
And if you’re wondering, no user will be notified if you add them to a list, so you don’t have to worry about naming each category or including chats in it—no one will know.
WhatsApp has announced that the feature is being rolled out and should be available on all users’ phones very soon. In fact, it’s possible that the new feature will arrive without needing to update WhatsApp. And yes, it doesn’t matter if you have an iPhone or Android; the lists will be available on all versions of the app.
