Samsung has clarified that its own suite of Galaxy AI features built into its Galaxy phones will remain free for as long as users own their devices. The company first hinted that it might begin charging for Galaxy AI “from the end of 2025.” Now, Samsung has confirmed that any feature installed on the phone by default will never require payment.

Which Galaxy AI Tools Remain Free

The free‑forever list includes Samsung’s in‑house features such as Audio Eraser, which removes unwanted background noise from recordings; Drawing Assist for improving sketches; Generative Wallpapers that create custom backgrounds; Live Translate for real‑time language conversion; Note Assist for turning handwriting into text; Now Brief for daily summaries; Writing Assist to refine messages; and Zoom Nightography for better low‑light photos. These tools operate through One UI and do not rely on external subscriptions.

The Role of Gemini‑Powered Features

Some Galaxy AI functions draw on Google’s Gemini technology. Samsung does not control the pricing of those services. Today, Gemini Advanced is available as a paid tier through Google, and Samsung users can access it for free for a limited time. In the future, Google may choose to charge for its Gemini tools even if they remain embedded in Galaxy devices.

Why Samsung Made This Decision

Samsung’s devices gained new AI capabilities when One UI 6.1 launched with the Galaxy S24 series. A major concern of many of the users was that the features would be lost after 2025, and they would have to make payments to continue using them. Keeping the core tools price-free is a way through which Samsung wants to attract more individuals to take an upgrade and to experiment with Galaxy AI without fearing the price.

Samsung did not explain what services it can bring to the high-value segment of AI after the year 2025. A paid subscription could appear later for advanced or partner‑powered tools. For now, the company says it will work “in close collaboration with our partners” on any premium plan while preserving free access to essential AI features. Samsung’s guarantee brings clarity and peace of mind to Galaxy owners. Users can continue to erase audio noise, translate languages, generate wallpapers, and refine writing at no cost. As AI becomes more central to smartphone use, Samsung’s promise ensures that the most useful tools stay open to everyone.
