Apple’s prepaid Account Card is set to reach seven additional countries in Europe. Backend code in Apple Pay now lists Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, and Portugal as supported regions. This move follows earlier expansions into Austria, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom earlier in 2025.

The update does not yet include a firm launch date. Apple may activate the feature when it ships its next major software update in the fall alongside iOS 26 and the iPhone 17 series. Until then, users in the newly listed countries will continue to see only their existing Wallet cards.

What Is the Apple Account Card

The Apple Account Card is not a credit card or a debit card. It is a prepaid tool that lives in the Wallet app. Any funds in an Apple Account, such as gift card balances, appear on the card. These funds can be spent on Apple Store products and on digital purchases in the App Store, Music Store, and other Apple services.

This feature replaces the older iTunes Pass that Apple retired in 2021. Unlike Apple Card, which requires banking partners and regulatory approvals, the Account Card operates entirely under Apple’s own system. That makes it easier to expand quickly across countries where Apple sells products and services.

How to Add Your Card

Once the feature is active in a new country, adding the card is simple. Open the Wallet app on an iPhone running iOS 15.5 or later. Tap Add Apple Account under Available Cards. The Wallet app then generates the secure credentials needed to represent your Apple Account balance as a payment card.

If you already have money in your Apple Account from gift cards or previous store credit, that balance will appear immediately. If your account holds no funds, you can still add the card, but it will begin with zero. Users can top up the balance at any time from the Wallet app or from the App Store using a linked debit or credit card.

Why This Matters for Users

The arrival of the Account Card in more countries gives customers a convenient way to spend prepaid funds both online and in person. Shoppers no longer need to place online orders to use digital gift cards. They can tap their iPhone at any Apple retail location just like a regular payment card.

Families may find the feature helpful for budgeting. Parents can load funds into a child’s Apple Account and let them spend only what is available on the card. Gift recipients also benefit by consolidating multiple gift cards into a single balance for easy use.

As Apple continues to refine Wallet and its financial tools, the Account Card shows how the company can roll out services without heavy banking partnerships. Users should watch their Wallet app in the coming weeks to see when the new countries go live and to begin using their prepaid Apple funds with greater ease.
