Google has released a new experimental app called Doppl that lets you see how clothes look on your own body. The app is free and works on iOS and Android in the United States. You start by uploading a full-body photo of yourself. Then you select images of outfits from your phone gallery or screenshots. Doppl uses AI to place the outfit on a digital version of your body. You can even transform the still picture to a video to find out how the clothes move when you walk, turn.

How to Get Started

As soon as you install the Doppl, you start the application, and then you touch the screen to draw your avatar. The app guides you to take or upload a clear photo that shows your full body. Next, you tap an outfit image and wait a few seconds. The app then blends the outfit onto your avatar. You can save looks into your gallery and share them with friends. All processing happens on your device to keep your images private.

Feature Highlights

Doppl can try on any outfit you capture. You may take a screenshot of a dress on social media or take a picture of a jacket in a shop. The application customizes every item to the figure of your avatar. A slider lets you adjust lighting for a more natural view. You may see folds and shadows that match your body posture. If you tap the video icon, the app will build a short clip of your avatar moving in the outfit. This gives you a clearer sense of fit and flow.

Why Doppl Matters

Online shopping can cause refunds in case the clothes do not fit. Doppl also provides you with a convenient mode of previewing style and size prior to purchase. Virtual try-on is capable of enhancing your buying decision. It can also assist you in trying out new styles without the need to visit changing rooms. As an early experiment from Google Labs, Doppl will evolve with feedback and new AI advances. Google aims to learn how people use virtual try-on for style and comfort.

Privacy and Accuracy

Google notes that Doppl is still in an early stage. Fit predictions may not always match real life. Clothing patterns and details can vary. The app relies on the initial photo quality and the outfit image you provide. To protect privacy, all face and body data stays on your device. No images are saved to Google servers unless you choose to share them.

Future Possibilities

Doppl builds on Google Shopping’s virtual try-on tools that let you sample clothes on models. A dedicated app makes it easier to focus on your own style. Google can increase Doppl to other areas and introduce shoes and accessories features. The company is also exploring the possibility of AI measuring your body and recommending a size. This would change online fashion shopping and lower the number of returns.
