Google’s New AI Models “Think” Before Answering, Outperform Rivals

Google just launched a new AI called Gemini 2.5. This smart tool takes time to think before giving answers, making it better at solving tough problems. Gemini 2.5 is now available for developers and people who pay for Google’s $20 monthly AI plan, Gemini Advanced. Google presents Gemini 2.5 as its most advanced AI solution for coding and resolving mathematical problems.

The AI race is heating up. OpenAI, together with Anthropic, currently leads the market with thinking AIs, while Google strives to lead this pack. The Gemini 2.5 system processes text and image data and other forms in addition to its standard capabilities, which makes it applicable for building applications and websites, among other products.

How Gemini 2.5 Thinks

Most AIs provide immediate responses, while Gemini 2.5 operates slower to verify information and perform problems sequentially. AI approaches mathematical inquiries through an organized process of processing different sections before delivering the complete solution. The method allows Gemini 2.5 to deliver answers that are precise and rational.

Google envisions all upcoming AIs as processing information in the same manner. The development aims to construct autonomous AI assistants to manage bookings and independently generate code.

Gemini 2.5’s Cool Features

Gemini 2.5 is great at coding. In tests, it beat AIs from OpenAI and other companies. It scored 68.6% on a coding test called Aider Polyglot, which checks how well an AI edits code. However, on another test for building software, it scored 63.8%, losing to Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet (70.3%).

The AI also aced a big exam called Humanity’s Last Exam, which has thousands of questions about math, science, and history. Gemini 2.5 scored 18.8%, higher than most rivals. This makes it helpful for students, teachers, and researchers.

Huge Memory for Big Jobs

Gemini 2.5 can read up to 750,000 words at once. That’s longer than all three Lord of the Rings books combined. Soon, it will handle twice as much. The API enables developers to create applications that analyze extended documents such as legal contracts or scientific research. When using Gemini 2.5, developers can summarize the entire library book instantaneously. That’s what Gemini 2.5 can do.

Who Can Use Gemini 2.5

The latest version, Gemini 2.5, can be accessed through Google AI Studio’s developer platform and the Gemini application service for paying subscribers. Google hasn’t shared prices for businesses yet but promises details soon. Running a thinking AI costs more because it uses extra computer power, so prices might be high.

The Fight to Build the Best AI

Google is racing against companies like OpenAI and Elon Musk’s xAI. Last year, OpenAI released the first thinking AI, called o1. Google’s earlier thinking AI, launched in December, wasn’t as good. Gemini 2.5 is Google’s big comeback.

Experts say thinking AIs will change technology. They could power robots, tutors, or apps that work without humans. The device requires significant energy consumption that might negatively affect environmental health.

Tech professionals and creators choose Gemini 2.5 primarily because of its coding, math, and reading abilities. Additional users of this technology will determine whether its buzz receives confirmation through performance.
