HyperOS 2.0 has been available for a few days on some Xiaomi phones in China. The operating system is fully official in its home country, but it will look different for Western users. Smartphones sold outside of Asia will receive HyperOS 2.0 Global, a modified version that has certain changes and is tailored to what Xiaomi believes will be popular in Europe or Latin America.

The good thing is that we already know how Xiaomi handles its software. We understand what features it removes, what it keeps exclusive to China, and what details it includes in its global versions. By knowing the full version of HyperOS 2.0, it’s easy to identify the 5 main features that Western phones will enjoy.
Before we dive into the details, it’s important to know that HyperOS 2.0 Global is expected to arrive, if everything goes as planned, at the beginning of 2025 for the first Xiaomi phones in the West. Some sources also claim that the company plans to update a large portion of its catalog sold outside of China during the first quarter of the year. In other words, within 3 or 4 months, you should have this software update on your phone.
HyperCore: The Star of HyperOS 2.0

When HyperOS 2.0 is released in China and becomes the Global ROM, it will inherit its kernel, the core of the operating system. Xiaomi has renamed this core as HyperCore, and it’s not just a new name. HyperCore has been built from scratch, with every detail optimized to ensure that Xiaomi phones perform at their best.
With HyperCore installed alongside HyperOS 2.0, Xiaomi phones will see improvements in performance, lower energy consumption, and better utilization of the CPU and GPU. It will also bring a new way of storing and managing internal files. In short, HyperCore is a completely new core that will elevate your device’s performance, even beyond the improvements already made with HyperOS.
HyperConnect
Xiaomi has also focused on improving the connectivity features. Phones running HyperOS 2.0 Global will not only be faster but will also offer better management of Wi-Fi networks, 4G/5G, and Bluetooth. The company has promised that these connections will now be more stable, faster, and much more efficient.
To top it off, HyperConnect will greatly enhance the transfer of files, images, and content between Xiaomi devices. This includes not just smartphones, but also tablets, smartwatches, and computers from the company.

HyperAI: The Artificial Intelligence of HyperOS 2.0
We’ve now reached one of the standout features of HyperOS 2.0, though it’s important to take Xiaomi’s new AI features with a grain of salt. While the company has announced several exciting AI capabilities in China, it’s not yet clear which ones will make it to Europe or Latin America. Here are some examples of what HyperAI can do:
- HyperAI can create unique wallpapers and lock screens based on your personal preferences and tastes.
- It can identify fraudulent calls and alert you before you pick up.
- It can detect if a photo or video has been altered using AI and notify you.
- HyperAI includes a feature called AI Art, which can turn sketches made with your finger into professional-looking drawings or concepts.
- The AI can also identify audio, translate it, and transcribe it in real-time. The raw text can then be used to create summaries.
A New and Beautiful Design
One of the most anticipated features of HyperOS 2.0 is its new design. The operating system has completely revamped its interface, with improved notifications, a more dynamic control center, smooth transitions, and blurred gradients across all sections. It also introduces new, highly customizable widgets.
In addition, several apps have been completely redesigned. A great example is the weather app, which now provides a more immersive experience with visually appealing and enhanced weather displays.

HyperOS 2.0 Security
Finally, you’ll want to know about the security features that Xiaomi has built into HyperOS 2.0. HyperCore plays a big role in these improvements, providing end-to-end encryption across the entire system to ensure your information is more private and secure than ever.
In fact, HyperOS 2.0 can operate in a new TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) mode, which protects and encrypts the device’s hardware. This added layer of security helps guard against attacks during critical or vulnerable situations.
