Last week, we shared that the app would introduce a party mode for celebrations, and today we can announce that video calls have been significantly improved. If you use them frequently, especially for group calls, the experience will be much better every time you connect with friends or family. The best part is that these three new features are already available.

Higher Resolution: WhatsApp has finally implemented something many have been waiting for years—better video call quality. From now on, when you make video calls, you’ll be able to see and be seen more clearly. Of course, this higher resolution will be available when the connection is stable.
New AR Filters: After months of waiting, WhatsApp is adding augmented reality effects to video calls. These filters can easily be selected, allowing you to add different objects or shapes to your face. Remember the Instagram filters that turned you into a puppy? This is exactly the same, and everyone on the video call will be able to see them.
New Feature for Group Calls: Another exciting addition WhatsApp is introducing is the ability to choose which participants to include in your group calls. Previously, when you made a group video call, all members received a notification. Now, you can select the people you want to call from a group.
This feature is especially useful for family video calls during Christmas, especially when several members are sitting at the same table. You can exclude them from the call, so their phones won’t ring when you start the group call.
More Video Calling Options: Lastly, as a bonus, WhatsApp has improved the interface of its desktop apps, making video calls and their features work more smoothly. If you use WhatsApp on your computer, you’ll likely appreciate this update.
