Xiaomi has unveiled one of its most impressive and powerful smartphones to date in China: the Redmi K80 Pro. This new device features the latest Qualcomm processor, a redesigned triple camera system, and an updated design aimed at competing in the high-end Asian market. Fortunately, Xiaomi plans to release it globally under the name Poco F7 Ultra.

Although the official global launch is still a few weeks away, and some specifications might change slightly, the China launch gives us a sneak peek at what could become the brand’s next big hit in Europe.

One of the standout features of the Redmi K80 (or Poco F7 Ultra) is its redesigned look compared to the previous generation. Xiaomi has introduced a new circular camera module, now positioned on one side of the device. However, it retains the glass back with a glossy finish on the upper half and a matte finish on the lower half, as well as a nearly bezel-less front design.

As for the front, the display of the Poco F7 Ultra is sure to impress. It features a 6.67-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. The screen supports a 120 Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals and includes an eye protection function to reduce flickering for a more comfortable viewing experience.

In addition to its design and display, the Poco F7 Ultra also stands out for its performance and battery life. The highlight is its processor: the smartphone is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, the most powerful chip from Qualcomm to date. It comes with RAM options ranging from 12 GB to 16 GB, and storage variants of 256 GB, 512 GB, or even up to 1 TB.

The Poco F7 Ultra will also feature advanced thermal management technology. Xiaomi claims it includes a 3D ice cooling system, designed to quickly dissipate heat and keep the device running smoothly.

All of this is powered by a 6,000 mAh battery, which supports 120W fast charging via cable and up to 50W wireless charging. It also comes pre-installed with HyperOS 2.0, the latest version of Xiaomi’s operating system.

No Compromise on Cameras

The Redmi K80 Pro, or Poco F7 Ultra, doesn’t cut corners when it comes to photography either. It features a triple camera system, starting with a 40-megapixel LightHunter 800 main sensor. Alongside this, there’s a 32-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, offering a 120-degree field of view for expansive shots.

Additionally, the Poco F7 Ultra includes a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, which provides 2.5x optical zoom and the ability to capture macro shots from just 10 centimeters away. While details are still limited, it’s likely that Xiaomi will incorporate AI features to enhance the camera experience, such as improving blurry images or removing unwanted elements from photos.

Will the Poco F7 Ultra Be Priced the Same as in China?

In the Asian market, the Redmi K80 Pro is priced at 3,699 yuan (approximately 483 euros) for the 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage variant. However, the Poco F7 Ultra may have a higher price in Europe, especially considering that the Poco F6 Pro launched at 580 euros, and the F7 Ultra offers better specifications. It would not be surprising to see the Poco F7 Ultra priced around 650 euros.

Here are the prices for the Redmi K80 Pro in China:

  • 12GB + 256GB: 3,699 yuan (about 483 euros)
  • 12GB + 512GB: 3,999 yuan (about 523 euros)
  • 16GB + 512GB: 4,299 yuan (about 560 euros)
  • 16GB + 1TB: 4,799 yuan (about 627 euros)
