This update also brings new features to older models, improving several important aspects of daily use. But before diving into the details, let’s first discuss which models will be able to take advantage of One UI 6 Watch and Wear OS 5.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t include the entire Samsung watch catalog, but the company’s selection of supported models isn’t too limited. In fact, all the smartwatches launched in recent years are included. Only users with older models will miss out on the new features. Here is the list of supported devices:
- Galaxy Watch FE
- Galaxy Watch 4
- Galaxy Watch 4 Classic
- Galaxy Watch 5
- Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
- Galaxy Watch 6
- Galaxy Watch 6 Classic
These seven devices are confirmed to receive One UI 6 Watch and Wear OS 5. The update is already rolling out, so it won’t be long before users start receiving the notification on their wrists.
One UI 6 Watch: New Features from the Galaxy Watch 7 Now Available on Older Models
As mentioned earlier, One UI 6 Watch aims to bring the new features of the latest Samsung watches to the rest of the catalog. Of course, this is only possible for features that can be supported through software and are compatible with the components and sensors of the devices listed above.
One great example is Energy Score, a feature that debuted on the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra a few months ago. This feature tracks your movement, exercise, and various aspects of your day to provide a score from 1 to 100 at the end of the day. This score allows you to compare your progress over time or with your friends.
Also included is Wellness Tips, an AI-powered feature from Galaxy that offers personalized health and fitness suggestions. These tips can range from recommendations on when to go to bed, the best days for gym performance, and many other helpful insights. However, you do need a Samsung phone to fully take advantage of this feature.
In addition, several improvements have been made, including the double-pinch gesture with the index finger and thumb, greater precision in sleep monitoring, new features in exercise sessions, and several new gestures that are now compatible with older Samsung watches.
Continuing with artificial intelligence, Samsung has also introduced AI-suggested message responses in One UI 6 Watch. This feature understands the context of your conversations and offers several response options that you can send with just a tap on the watch screen.
One UI 6 Watch and Wear OS 5 bring a breath of fresh air to Samsung’s watch lineup, enhancing and integrating advanced features that were once exclusive to the latest models.
If you own a Samsung watch, you’ll likely be able to update it to the new software within a few days. And if you’re wondering, the company has already confirmed the global rollout.
