The worst happens to the best of us: you make a well-intentioned YouTube comment from a prospective client’s account, but then look back and think you may have made a mistake. You try and process the reality that this may not have been received well (you think the stakes may be quite high for this client’s brand image!). This is especially helpful if you have to search for, edit, or even remove an unfortunate comment from YouTube comment history. Using this guide, you will be able to review and control all of the comment history from YouTube, which will help you to protect and use your clients’ online reputation.
Why Review YouTube Comment History?
Accessing YouTube comment history provides important benefits to brand and individual managers on the Internet. Comments can be changed to get rid of typos, deleted if they are no longer relevant or crude, and updated with new, precise information. Moreover, checking out comment history will help you navigate client interaction with other creators and subscribers. High engagement and relevancy are what the YouTube algorithm rewards, so it is valuable to get good interactions with your audience to get your channel pushed.
Thankfully, social media managers can utilize past comments to uncover other doors. A good comment can present the opportunity to connect with your potential collaborative brands. Sharing simple things such as a video link in a comment can help a campaign spread like wildfire, across platforms. This means that you always watch back comments and you grab opportunities that you wouldn’t have been aware of otherwise.

Steps to Access and Edit YouTube Comment History
So, either on your desktop or using the YouTube mobile app, here are ways to go about reviewing, editing, and perhaps, deleting YouTube comments.
View Comment History on Desktop
Open a web browser to YouTube.com and then start. If you logged in to the client’s account, go to the client’s left sidebar and choose “History”. From there, you will go to “Manage all history” and you’ll find “Comments.” This will open a Google activity page with an entire comment history sorted by the latest posts. This list would not include a comment on a video that was deleted.
To delete a comment, you simply click the “X” next to it. Click on “Commented on” next to each comment and that will take you to edit the original video. Click the one under the comment it has a vertical ellipsis (three dots) next to it and select “Edit” or “Delete.” After editing, click “Save.”

Once you have, tap the profile icon, and then select ‘Your data in YouTube’. The next step is that you can click the cross icon next to these comments to delete or you can use a specific video link to go to the comments section and make edits or deletions.

Live chat comments are also stored on YouTube. To pull these up, head to your client’s profile and navigate to “Manage All History” (or “Manage All Activity” in the app). In “Interactions,” you will see “Live chat messages” to see the live chat comments by your client.
