It seems that Google Wallet, the service from Google for storing credit cards, train tickets, and various passes, has started off on the wrong foot. An unknown issue is causing significant distrust among users worldwide, as the wallet is sending emails to users about a strange situation with their bank cards.

Naturally, whenever banking information is involved, concerns rise, especially in today’s world where scams are rampant. Reddit is buzzing with thousands of users seeking explanations and urging Google Wallet to resolve the problem quickly.

What’s happening? Google Wallet is reportedly adding credit and debit cards to users’ wallets without their consent and notifying them via email. Many people are receiving messages like, “Your card has been successfully added.”

Users on Reddit are saying they haven’t done anything to prompt this action and that it was Google Wallet that added these cards to their accounts. The added cards appear to be old, expired payment methods with incorrect addresses, which can now be viewed on the wallet.google.com website.

Don’t worry, no one has accessed your Google Wallet.

Thankfully, this issue is just a bug or error in how cards and payment methods are managed in Google Wallet. No one has manually added anything to your account, so you can relax.

If you’ve received an email from Google Wallet or Google Pay about this, you can safely ignore it and delete it. While the situation will likely be resolved soon, you can also log into the app and remove these credit cards that were activated without your consent.

Without a doubt, this error causes a lot of confusion, as it resembles steps often used in internet scams. Scammers send an email claiming there’s an issue with your account, prompting you to log in, where they capture your credentials.

Fortunately, this isn’t the case here, and Google Wallet remains a safe way to store your cards. While there may be occasional mistakes, the service is secure overall.
