According to Android Headlines, Huawei plans to launch its triple foldable smartphone in the first quarter of 2025. This information was confirmed by one of their sources, although the company has not yet made an official announcement.
If the information is correct, there is already speculation that the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design could be unveiled in the West at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Remember, the next edition of this traditional event will take place from March 3 to 6, 2025.
However, it’s also possible that Huawei will hold a separate event outside of MWC to introduce its triple foldable phone to international markets. We will have to wait for more concrete information to see if this actually happens, as details are currently very limited.
Will the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, the world’s first triple foldable phone, make a big impact in the market?
At the moment, it is unclear which international markets Huawei’s new triple foldable phone might reach. This year, the Chinese brand has been particularly active in Europe, launching the Pura 70 mobile line, the MatePad Pro 12.2 and MatePad 12X tablets, and the Watch GT 5, among other devices. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if Europe is one of the markets targeted for the global launch of the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design.
The big question surrounding a potential international debut of the triple foldable is its price. Keep in mind that the cheapest model was launched in China for 19,999 yuan, which is about 2,500 euros at the current exchange rate. Higher storage variants were priced at around 2,800 and 3,050 euros. If taxes or tariffs are added, its arrival in European markets could result in even higher prices.
We’ll see how this story unfolds. The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design features a double hinge system—one that folds inwards and another that folds outwards. This design allows the device to fold into a Z shape, providing three screen sizes based on how it’s positioned: 6.4 inches when fully closed, 7.9 inches when partially unfolded, and 10.2 inches when completely open.
The triple foldable phone comes with 16GB of RAM and offers options for 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage. It has a 5,600mAh battery and supports 66W wired fast charging as well as up to 50W wireless charging. On the back, it features a triple camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 12MP telephoto lens with a periscopic design. In terms of software, it runs on HarmonyOS 4.2.
