Because Elon Musk and his platform X are becoming increasingly radicalized, politicians and the judiciary are being forced to step in. This, in turn, provokes even stronger reactions from Musk. It is unsettling to watch the radicalization of the richest man in the world in real time. Since Musk decided to support former US President Donald Trump’s election campaign, his posts and retweets on X have become even more extreme and absurd. As politicians and the judiciary refuse to just stand by, Musk has been targeting people he dislikes more aggressively. This creates a vicious cycle that is likely to continue in the coming months.

The current peak of this situation is the dispute with the Brazilian judiciary, which resulted in X being blocked in South America. The short message service refused to comply with legal requirements, leading Judge Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court to order the block. The First Senate of the Supreme Court has since upheld this decision. Judge de Moraes has been vilified as a “criminal” and “dictator.”
Judge Flávio Dino explained, “Economic power and the size of a bank account do not grant bizarre immunity from jurisdiction.” The court also confirmed a fine of just over 8,000 euros per day for circumventing the blockade through VPN providers.
Despite this confirmation, Musk continues to attack Judge de Moraes, referring to him as a “criminal” and “the evil dictator Moraes.” Recently, Musk even threatened to seek the confiscation of assets from the Brazilian government if the confiscated property of X and his rocket company SpaceX is not returned. He described the Supreme Federal Court as a “farce” and called Moraes “the dictator of Brazil.”
There is no doubt that Musk has a lot at stake in the coming weeks. He is fully committed to Donald Trump and even hopes to play a significant role in a future Trump administration. According to a report from the Washington Post, Trump is considering setting up a commission led by prominent business figures to examine the government budget and identify thousands of programs that can be cut. Musk, in particular, could greatly benefit from this plan.
It is no coincidence that Musk commented on the report by saying, “I can’t wait. There is a lot of waste and unnecessary regulations in government that need to be eliminated.” To achieve this goal, he must use every means available to ensure that his candidate wins the election in November 2024. He no longer hesitates to make even absurd contributions to support his cause.
