SmartThings Family Care offers activity notifications, location-based care, medication reminders, and schedule management. The feature will launch in the United States on Friday (08/16) and will be available for users of the SmartThings app. It will utilize Samsung’s SmartThings platform to provide these services.

In addition to supporting the elderly, the feature can also help others who need similar care. Users can access SmartThings Family Care from the “Life” tab in the main app.

The purpose of this feature is to alert caregivers to any abnormalities in their loved one’s daily routine. Family Care monitors daily activities through the person’s Galaxy smartphone and sends notifications to the designated family caregiver.
