There is still over a year before ‘GTA 6′ is released, but with only a trailer and a few leaks available, it is already one of the most eagerly awaited games in recent years. Is this game going to revolutionize the industry or is it just hype?

GamesRadar interviewed Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar Games developer, who shared his thoughts with YouTuber SanInPlay. Even though Vermeij left the company in 2009, he has some insider knowledge about the game’s development. However, it is unlikely that Rockstar is still working on it at this point.

“I don’t think it’s going to be very different from GTA 5,”

Obbe Vermeij says.

Vermeij played a major role in earlier Rockstar games, serving as technical director and programmer for GTA 4, GTA 3, San Andreas, and Vice City. Obbe Vermeij believes that:

“People might be a bit disappointed on day one, but it will still be the best game out there.”

This is a bold statement, but he supports it with solid reasons: he was particularly impressed by the beach scene, where NPCs had unique animations.

For now, Rockstar has not shared much information, only giving small updates about the 2025 release date and potential for a PC version. With Take-Two facing a tough time with many layoffs and canceled projects, if the leaks are accurate, ‘GTA 6’ could be just what the company and the industry need.
