In a new update released on the beta channel, WhatsApp has finally started allowing the use of animated emojis. This new feature is available in version 2.24.15.15 for Android.
According to WABetaInfo, animated emojis have been in testing for a while, but WhatsApp had initially limited the feature to a very small group of users.

Now, all participants in the beta program can try out this new feature. Check out the screenshot below to see the feature in action:
Designed using the Lottie library, the animated emojis are made to be high definition while remaining lightweight. This allows the feature to be used on lower-end smartphones, for example.
Additionally, animated emojis follow a pattern similar to that of Telegram. They increase in size to catch the user’s attention.
However, not all emojis available in the messenger support animation. Since this feature is still being tested, it may take some time before it is released in the public version of WhatsApp.
