Summer is the season for foldable phones. We recently saw the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. On August 13, Google will showcase the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (alongside the Pixel 9 Pro). Today, Xiaomi has unveiled two new handsets: the Mix Flip, which is the Chinese company’s first foldable clamshell, and the next-generation Mix Fold series. For now, both phones are only available in China, and it is unclear when (or if) they will be released internationally.

The Mix Flip stands out with its 4.01-inch exterior display, which narrowly surpasses the latest Motorola Razr+ as the largest in its class. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6’s display is smaller at 3.4 inches. This 120Hz panel, known as the All-Around Liquid Outline Display, has its own earpiece and microphone, allowing you to make calls without opening the phone. The handset weighs 190 grams, and the exterior panel can also run apps or display widgets.
Although the Mix Flip’s exterior display is quite large, a significant portion of it is occupied by a pair of Leica cameras: a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. When opened, the Mix Flip reveals a 6.86-inch foldable AMOLED panel. Inside, it features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. The battery is 4,780mAh with support for 67W fast charging, and it runs on Android 14 with the HyperOS layer.
In China, the Mix Flip will be priced starting at 5,999 yuan, which is approximately $800.
