After nearly a year since its announcement in July 2023, Homelander from The Boys series is set to finally join the roster of characters in Mortal Kombat 1, which was released in September of the previous year. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, Ed Boon, one of the game’s creators, recently shared the first video featuring the character on his X (Twitter).

However, the video wasn’t a gameplay reveal; it was merely a teaser showcasing the beginning of a fight between the character from The Boys and Liu Kang. Boon released this teaser as a gesture of gratitude for the positive reception Ermac, the new playable character, received from players.

In addition to expressing gratitude and hinting at forthcoming updates, Boon mentioned in his post the introduction of new “Klassic Costumes,” fresh moves, enhanced features for the online mode, and other undisclosed surprises. Watch the video below:

We're very pleased with the reception players are giving Ermac and happy to remind everyone there is still a LOT more planned for #MortalKombat1

Last month, Peacemaker debuted as a playable character, followed by the recent additions of Ermac and Mavado. The video strongly indicates that the next cameo appearance will be Homeland Captain’s.

While Mortal Kombat 1 garnered praise from critics, boasting a respectable Metascore of 83 on Metacritic, opinions among players and the fighting game community were more polarized. The game is available on Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch platforms, with Cross-Play functionality enabled for PC, PS5, and Xbox players.
