In a recent update rolled out on January 24th, Sony introduced new features for the PS5, specifically targeting improvements for headphones and headsets. However, what the tech giant didn’t explicitly mention is the inclusion of a protective measure against accessories and software commonly used for cheating in online games.

While Sony has remained tight-lipped about this change, Cronus, a manufacturer specializing in accessories and software designed to reduce latency and automatically execute specific commands in certain games, issued a statement on their website. According to Cronus, they are aware of an issue with the Zen and the PS5. As of January 24th, the console prompts users to update to Version: 24.01-08.60.00. If users comply, the Zen will no longer connect to the PS5 without disconnecting.

Cronus advises its users against installing the 24.01-08.60.00 update for the PS5, as there is currently no fix available to use their scripts and accessories with the PlayStation 5.

It’s crucial to note that not all users employ Cronus Zen and its accessories for cheating in online games. Some individuals with disabilities adapt their controls for gaming purposes. Unfortunately, the majority of users take advantage of Cronus Zen to gain unfair advantages in competitive titles.

In a seemingly under-the-radar move, Sony’s recent update for the PS5 includes more than just enhanced audio capabilities.
