On Wednesday (27), OPPO announced the launch of the OPPO A18, its new budget smartphone positioned at the lower end of the “A” series. Coming shortly after the OPPO A38, this model features simpler hardware with a few highlights to compete directly with the recently introduced Samsung Galaxy A05.

With a design familiar to those who followed the OPPO A38 launch, the new phone is equipped with a 6.56-inch LCD IPS display, HD+ resolution (1,612 x 720 pixels), peak brightness of 720 nits, and a refresh rate of up to 90 Hz. The display features a waterdrop notch housing a 5 MP front camera.

On the back, there’s a dual-camera setup consisting of an 8 MP main camera with autofocus, a four-element lens system, and an f/2.0 aperture. The model also includes a monochrome sensor to assist in low-light or high-contrast scenes. The primary camera can record videos at up to Full HD @ 30 FPS.

The OPPO A18 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 platform, manufactured with a 12-nanometer process, featuring an 8-core CPU clocked at up to 2.0 GHz and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. There is only one memory option, combining 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM with 128 GB of internal eMMC 5.1 storage.

To power this hardware, there’s a 5,000 mAh battery, and the supported charging power is not specified. Other specifications include a side-mounted fingerprint reader, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.3, and a headphone jack (P2). The phone will come out of the box running Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1.

Price and Availability:

The price of the OPPO A18 has not been disclosed, the estimated price is $159 USD in the United States, whereas its specifications are already available on the brand’s official website in the United Arab Emirates. It is possible, however, that the phone will be launched in other Asian countries and Europe as well.

There are two colour options: black and blue.
