Telegram now allows the sending of media with self-destructing views. This new feature came with the latest update received by the messaging app, which ended up “borrowing” this function from its rival WhatsApp, something that is uncommon since it usually happens the other way around.
In any case, this functionality can be enabled through a quick shortcut in the chat. Therefore, the user can send media that can only be viewed once, just like it already happens in the Meta app and used to happen with Instagram, in a message sent with a bomb icon.
It’s worth noting that Telegram has allowed the sending of self-destructing messages since 2013. However, the user used to choose the duration of the sent media to make it expire after a certain time. The new shortcut, on the other hand, allows for a quick choice of a 30-second duration or a single view.
Since this is a more private feature, it does not allow the sent and viewed media to be saved in the gallery, and it’s not possible to take screenshots either. Additionally, the blue messenger has made it easier to discover new logins on the account by displaying a notification at the top of the message list.
New features in Stories The monthly app update also brought new features to stories. For example, it’s now possible to create quick videos with the addition of reaction stickers. In this regard, Premium subscribers can add up to five stickers to their posts, which also support custom emojis.
The feature also offers the possibility to add music, narration, and adjust the volume in relation to the original video.
