San José, California – January 18, 2024: In its annual Unpacked event, Samsung has once again taken center stage. The tech giant unveiled a plethora of exciting updates beyond the flagship devices. While the spotlight shone on the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series, the real star of the show was artificial intelligence (AI). This marked a significant leap for the South Korean giant.

The January 2024 edition of Unpacked showcased Samsung’s strides in AI, with a focus on advancements like the Gauss model and a close collaboration with Google. The result? A myriad of new features integrated into the latest smartphones, alongside the uncovering of the enigmatic Galaxy Ring.

Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+: A Return to Exynos Power

The Galaxy S24 and S24+ mark Samsung’s return to its Exynos processors. These devices, slightly less ambitious than the Ultra model, boast the Samsung Exynos 2400 crafted in 4 nanometers. The standard version features a 6.2-inch FHD+ display, 8 GB of RAM, 128/256 GB storage, and a 4,000 mAh battery. The Plus version steps up with a 6.7-inch QHD+ display, 12 GB of RAM, 256/512 GB storage, and a 4,900 mAh battery. Both models include fast charging, wireless charging, and leverage the showcased AI innovations.

In the camera department, both devices share a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP wide-angle lens, and a 10 MP telephoto lens. The Galaxy S24 starts at $800, and the Galaxy S24+ at $1000, with pre-orders available now and deliveries beginning on January 31.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra, the titan of the Galaxy family, introduces a flat display and titanium edges. Boasting a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with Corning Gorilla Armor, Quad HD+ resolution, and 2,600 nits brightness, it runs on Qualcomm’s powerhouse, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

All configurations feature 12 GB of RAM, with options for 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of storage. The camera setup includes a 200 MP main sensor, 50 MP telephoto lens with 5x zoom, a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom, and a 12 MP wide-angle lens. The 5,000mAh battery supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra integrates the latest AI enhancements, promising to elevate photo and video capture to new heights. With special features for direct social media sharing, it starts at $1300, available for pre-order in Spain, with availability from January 31.

Closing the curtains on Unpacked 2024 was the mysterious Samsung Galaxy Ring, a unique product from the South Korean giant, hinting at a foray into the health sector. Details on this new proposition remain scarce, and it appears to complement Samsung’s health-related plans.

The event also saw announcements in Samsung Health, introducing a health scoring system called ‘My vitality score’ and updates in sleep monitoring. However, specifics about the Samsung Galaxy Ring remain elusive, requiring anticipation for more details on Samsung’s plans.

AI Innovations Uncovered

As the event’s focal point, AI showcased a multitude of functionalities. One UI 6.1 promises real-time translations and call transcriptions. Samsung Keyboard steps up with automatic translations. Additionally, the Interpreter function facilitates bidirectional translations for individuals in the same room. Samsung Notes excels at generating note summaries, while Voice Recorder seamlessly transcribes voice notes. Furthermore, Samsung Internet efficiently summarizes webpage content, and the Photo Editor adopts the power of generative AI.
