DxOMark: Sony Xperia 5 V Outperforms Galaxy S21 Ultra and iPhone 12 in Cameras

The Xperia 5 V underwent the DxOMark camera test, and the results were released on Wednesday (4). Initially, the device scored 118 points, which placed it far behind the top-ranking models on the site, landing it in the 69th position. Nevertheless, it still managed to outscore some popular models, such as the iPhone 12 and 12 mini. Not only that, but it also surpassed the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (Snapdragon version). However, it performed equally to the Xperia 5 IV.

According to the site’s evaluation, the Sony model produced results with a good level of detail in most tested lighting conditions. Another aspect praised by DxOMark was the model’s precise white balance, even in very bright scenes and indoor environments.

The portal also concluded the positive points with compliments for objects captured with the telephoto lens. Additionally, exposure was a positive highlight even in cases where they were backlit.

The negative points begin with the delay the phone exhibits in capturing scenes with high contrast, despite the model’s reliable autofocus. Furthermore, the final result may appear different from what the user sees in the camera app’s preview.

Other negative aspects arose in videos, with the white balance transition showing some slowness. Similarly, scenes with low lighting displayed tones leaning more towards orange.

Conclusion

In general, DxOMark asserts that the model presented some interesting improvements compared to its predecessor. In this regard, it performed well in both photo and video, but it fell short by not featuring a dedicated sensor for zoom photography.

It’s worth noting that the model comes with a camera module consisting of two sensors, with the main one being 48MP with an f/1.9 aperture and OIS, while the auxiliary has 12MP, f/2.2 aperture, and is dedicated for ultra-wide photos.
