Bing Chat: Microsoft intends to increase character limit of AI chatbot

Microsoft obtained a return below the expected after investing billions of dollars in Bing Chat, its web search engine with generative artificial intelligence, but the company still has plans to expand the service. On Tuesday (12), an executive confirmed that the big tech plans to expand the character limit for conversation with the AI.

This information was revealed by Mikhail Parakhin, CEO of Bing, in response to a user of Bing Chat Enterprise — a more secure version of the chatbot with optimizations for corporate use — on X (formerly Twitter). The executive states, on the other hand, that this will be a difficult task, so it may take some time to be carried out.

The maximum number of characters that can be entered in the text box for conversing with artificial intelligence is identical in its versions for home and corporate users: 4,000 characters. Although this is a significant amount for such a service, there are use cases that may require more text space.

According to Parakhin, the generative artificial intelligence model employed in the service uses quadratic algorithms to analyze contexts, which means that these codes must increase exponentially, so the limit can be extended to 8,000 characters, which would be “four times more expensive,” according to the executive.

Microsoft is also preparing an “Advanced Mode” for Bing Chat, as previously suggested by Mikhail Parakhin. This feature would enable access to more detailed and accurate information from artificial intelligence, as well as new functions that would allow obtaining answers in a simpler and faster way.
