Cyberpunk 2077 is very different now compared to when it was first released in 2019. After numerous patches, updates, free DLCs, and the fantastic but paid expansion Phantom Liberty, Cyberpunk 2077 now receives our strong recommendation. But what if you’ve already finished the game multiple times and want a break from your screen while still exploring more of Night City? While you can always turn to the pen-and-paper Cyberpunk game that inspired the video game, there are also other accessible options!
Experience Cyberpunk 2077 in a Whole New Way
In addition to the already released board game Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City, a brand new board game is now in development. What will it offer? So far, only the crowdfunding campaign for Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game has been revealed, but the initial pictures of the game and its mechanics are intriguing and invite you to participate in the campaign (similar to Kickstarter):
- The crowdfunding starts on September 3, 2024. You can already join as a follower and receive extra goodies in the finished game for doing so.
- The board game is a “story-driven tactical action game” developed in collaboration with CD Projekt Red.
- The game is designed for 1-4 players, with sessions lasting 60-90 minutes.
- It will be produced in several languages, including German and English.
- The campaigns offer an “alternate history” to the game’s story: You are heading to a heist at Konpecki Plaza but receive a mysterious call from someone named “Seer” who halts your progress.
- You can follow three different storylines, all leading to a brilliant finale. Each storyline includes 13 missions, each lasting about 45-60 minutes.
- The game features various mechanics, enemies, locations, and more, ensuring a varied gaming experience each time.
- “Story cards” further personalize your experience. You complete these 50 stories and receive advantages and disadvantages for the next mission based on them. This is also how you acquire new weapons and adjust the difficulty level of your games.
