A recent user report highlights a concerning issue with the iPhone 15 Pro, involving overheating of the A17 Pro chip. This has led to an increase in battery consumption and a reduction in performance under specific circumstances. While a software update was expected to address this, one user’s experience suggests that it may not be sufficient.
Zaryab Khan shared a photo on both Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) depicting an iPhone 15 Pro with a visibly swollen battery, attributing it to the heat generated by the device. The X post reads:
Woah. Someone's iPhone 15 Pro turned into a spicy pillow (swollen battery 💣) after the guy started using it in a case and then noticed the case didn't fit properly coz the iPhone's got thic. What is going on? 😳

The original Reddit post, belonging to user Leather_Cheerio_402, corroborates that the user indeed noticed the phone’s swelling, though it still functions.
In the comments, the iPhone 15 Pro owner mentioned observing the swelling when they couldn’t fit the phone into its case. The device was taken to an Apple Store, where the individual was advised to contact Verizon. The carrier from which it was purchased, for a potential replacement.

On the other hand, some X users point out a dent at the top of the iPhone 15 Pro in the photo, suggesting potential user-induced damage. However, the owner of the phone refutes this possibility.
Despite the debate surrounding this specific incident, the overarching concern lies in the overheating problem affecting both iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models. While hopes are pinned on a system update to rectify this, initial signs suggest that the issue may be more severe than anticipated, possibly necessitating a full-scale product recall.
