Nokia is leaving Europe for good. Months after HMD Global, the company that operates the Nokia smartphone brand, announced a change in strategy for its smartphones, they have completely disappeared from its website.

As Thetechbasic has confirmed, the eight Nokia smartphones that HMD offered on the European version of its website are no longer available for purchase. In the catalog, there are only six mobile phones available under HMD. However, the company continues to sell the brand’s traditional mobile phones.
While there is no clear reason, it seems this is part of the change in strategy that HMD Global announced at the beginning of the year. Ultimately, Nokia smartphones have lost interest among users, so it makes sense for the company to phase out this brand. Additionally, HMD may have stopped paying Nokia for the license to market smartphones under its name, keeping only the traditional mobile phones.
For now, this change appears to affect only the European market. Nokia phones can no longer be purchased on the website for Spain and other European countries—except, as mentioned, for the traditional phones. However, the support page still lists the different models that the company previously offered.
Furthermore, the phones are still available in markets such as Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America. However, it’s likely only a matter of time before they disappear from these regions as well.
Nokia Corporation still exists.
It is important to note that Nokia Corporation, which focuses on network infrastructure, also owns thousands of patents. In fact, it was Nokia Corporation that took legal action against Oppo for patent infringement. While Nokia itself does not manufacture smartphones, those devices were produced by HMD.
Nokia phones have long been known for their interesting features and low prices—something HMD continues to offer. The company has also redesigned some of its classic models to make them smarter, incorporating Android, touch screens, and more. However, the brand has been overshadowed by more popular companies like Xiaomi and Samsung, which are two of the leading smartphone manufacturers.
