For users of the WhatsApp Beta version of the messaging application on the Android operating system, a new feature is available that allows initiating voice communication in group calls.
This isn’t exactly a conference call among multiple people on WhatsApp, but it can be compared to the functionality offered by the Clubhouse app, where individuals have the ability to join a conversation to speak and listen at any time. As a result, no separate notification will appear on the phone for any of the participants in the WhatsApp group chat. However, anyone can join this voice communication at any time.
Whatsapp Voice Call In Group Chats
Currently, up to 32 people can participate in such a conversation. Once people have finished the voice communication, it will automatically end after 1 hour. Voice communication recordings are protected with encryption. To access this new feature, you need to install WhatsApp version 2.23.16.19.
It should be noted that this is very reminiscent of Clubhouse but with a limitation on the number of participants. This mode of communication could help avoid lengthy voice messages and instead offer a simple option for group calls. We will see how this functionality is received once it becomes available to all users.
