Apple is plotting a massive jump into AI with LLM Siri for iOS 19 and macOS 16. Apple is building a next-generation Siri to compete against advanced AI applications like ChatGPT and Google Gemini, with a human-like interaction expected.
A Smarter, More Human Siri
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s internal teams are calling its new virtual assistant ‘LLM Siri.’ Unlike the previous ones, this Siri is powered by powerful large language models (LLMs) to take care of jobs that were too complex for the average person to figure out. Inspired by AI platforms like ChatGPT, it has a functionality that allows users to interact naturally while it manages tasks perfectly.

At the moment, Apple is testing LLM Siri in a standalone app for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. At some point in the future, when development is finished, this AI assistant will replace the existing Siri infrastructure.
Enhanced Features with LLM Siri
Siri will be revamped to make use of Apple’s own AI models to give Siri a huge boost in capabilities. It will complete tasks efficiently both online and offline, as well as excel at human-like conversations. LLM Siri will integrate advanced App Intents to enable precise control over third-party applications alongside text writing and summarization with Apple intelligence.
Apple hopes that these two move the needle towards the portrayal of a secure, private ChatGPT alternative and keep functionality closer to users’ expectations.
Roadmap to Launch
Apple is planning to announce the LLM Siri along with iOS 19 and macOS 16 at WWDC 2025, but the rollout won’t happen until spring 2026. In the interim, Android and iOS 18 updates will act as bridges, providing ongoing Siri improvement in increments.
The iOS 18.2 update that will be available in December, for instance, will integrate ChatGPT to Siri, making it much more powerful. This will be used in later updates such as iOS 18.3, where Siri can do app actions and respond in their personal context.

The Future of AI at Apple
Apple’s LLM Siri marks a turning point in the company’s direction with regard to AI-driven virtual assistants. Apple is preparing to cut ties from its OpenAI reliance by investing in its own large language models. This is in line with their, firm commitment to putting the user first by putting user privacy ahead of functionality.
According to Bloomberg, the move toward LLM Siri signals Apple’s determination to rethink the way the virtual assistant works. When the revamped Siri finally launches, the combination of cutting-edge technology, privacy-first design, and seamless user experience could settle a new benchmark in the industry.
